
1.39 lakh households in Meghalaya will be electrified under Saubhagya scheme : Singh
Shillong: Union Minister of State for Power, and New & Renewable Energy (Independent Charge) R K Singh today said a total of 1.39 lakh households of Meghalaya will be connected with electricity under the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana, Saubhagya.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma jointly launched the Saubhagya scheme in presence of the Union Minister Singh, State Power Minister James Sangma and senior government officials.
Saubhagya” is a new Scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 25, 2017 and is aimed at electrification of all households in the country, in both rural and urban areas.
The objective of the Scheme is to achieve universal household electrification, creation of last mile connectivity to all households in rural and urban areas and to provide electricity connection to all willing un-electrified households in rural and urban areas.
