100 J&K villages to get electricity by December 2017
Emphasis on expeditious implementation of projects under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana.
Minister of state for power and new and renewable energy RK Singh has asked the authorities to ensure electrification of 100 electricity-strapped villages in J&K by December 2017.
He reviewed power sector development in Srinagar during a meeting attended by officials of ministry of power, central power sector undertakings (CPSUs) and J&K government.
Kishtwar, Kupwara, Reasi, Bandipore, Leh, Kargil and Rajauri are some of the remote area villages with difficult hilly terrain. Electrification of these villages would ensure electricity access to 100 percent census villages of J&K. The CPSUs are providing requisite support to the J&K government.
Singh laid emphasis on expeditious implementation of projects under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), integrated power development scheme (IPDS) and pradhan mantri development plan (PMDP) for strengthening of transmission, sub-transmission and distribution system of J&K.
