106 locations identified for electric vehicles charging stations in Nashik – EQ Mag Pro
NASHIK: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has identified as many as 106 locations across the city to set up Electric Vehicles (EV) charging stations.
An NMC official said they will rope in private agencies to set up EV stations at these locations owned by the civic body after signing an agreement. The spaces will be given to these agencies on lease for a period of 15-20 years.
“The expression of interest (EoI) will be floated by the end of this month. The state government has already introduced EV policy to boost use of electric vehicles in the state,” the official said.
The NMC has already undertaken some initiatives to encourage city residents to buy EVs instead of conventional petrol and diesel-based vehicles. The civic body has already made an EV charging stations mandatory for every 25 apartments in a residential societies.
Moreover, the NMC has also chalked out a policy for procuring EVs and CNG vehicles in future for its various departments. Around three months ago, the general body of the NMC had approved the proposal.
In July last year, the civic body took over the charge of city bus service from cash-strapped Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). For this, the NMC has appointed two private agencies on procure, operate and maintain basis. Both the agencies have altogether procured procured 250 buses, including 200 CNG and 50 diesel. The NMC also has plans to deploy 150 electric buses on roads.
