186 Lawmakers Urge the Prioritization of Clean Energy Tax Policy in the Upcoming Infrastructure Package
WASHINGTON, D.C. : In a letter delivered today to House leadership, 186 lawmakers urged the inclusion of a stable, predictable, and long-term clean energy, energy efficiency, and clean transportation tax platform in the infrastructure package this year. Following is a statement from Gregory Wetstone, President and CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) on the letter:
“We applaud the 186 House members for their strong support of including a stable, predictable and long-term clean energy tax platform in budget reconciliation legislation. Providing long-term certainty for clean energy tax incentives is foundational for decarbonizing the power sector and will create millions of good-paying American jobs. The direct pay option called for in today’s letter will ensure the pace of renewable energy deployment is driven by science, rather than tax equity constraints.
“We look forward to working with Congress to enact a long-term, full-value clean energy tax platform into law as soon as possible this year. As yesterday’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report made abundantly clear, the costs of inaction are dire.”
