State & Central Tax Authorities keen to resolve Solar Sector VAT/ GST Issues
RSA delegation led by Shri Sunil Bansal, General Secretary met Dr. S L Meena, CHIEF COMMISSIONER OF CENTRAL GOODS & SERVICES TAX, JAIPUR ZONE yesterday to discuss critical tax issues of solar sector. The delegation included leading industry stakeholders from Rays Power Experts, Diwakar Solar, Ohms Energy, Insolation Energy and others. The delegation was well received by Dr Meena. RSA delegation explained the burning tax issues specifically Clarity on status of Central GST in state faced by Solar Power Industry.
Clarity on GST / Tax applicable: –This is common problem with solar power related companies as tax authorities claim that only solar module is VAT exempted (earlier) / now GST 5% applicable. But in fact all PV solar energy systems and solar energy equipment is in purview of GST 5% applicable slot. RSA requested to issue necessary directions to Central GST department to specifically implement above.
Chief Commissioner, Central GST attentively heard the grievances of Solar Power Stakeholders and assured to solve the possible issues and do his level best. It was a nice meeting and Central Government’s approach to solve solar sector issues is commendable.
RSA thanks again Dr. S L Meena for his valuable time and efforts.
