Government of Chhattisgarh for last 15 years has done significant work for expansion of electricity infrastructure. Centre has been providing assistance to State Governments but Chhattisgarh through its own budgetary allocation has spent more than Rs 12000 crore. Due to which in State has more than 50 lakh consumers receiving uninterrupted 24 hours power supply, said Minister of State (IC) for power and new and renewable energy Raj Kumar Singh. He was speaking after the review meeting of different schemes under Ministry of Power in Chhattisgarh.
Appreciating Chief Minister Raman Singh, he said that now Central Government has taken a decision to install smart meter at residence of consumers, shops and industries. Government of Chhattisgarh has strengthened the infrastructure in power sector. Singh said that State has made progress in electrifying the pumps, which is comparatively the best from other States. The irrigation pumps from 97,000 have increased to 5 lakh.
Under Deendayal Upadhayay Gram Jyoti Scheme, three-fourth work has been completed in State. By September it is expected that all the remaining works is expected to be done as the work is in progress. The work is also in progress in providing 7.08 lakh power connections under Prime Minister Power Supply to Each House Scheme. Till date 4 lakh families have been provided Power Connection. The work in Naxal-affected areas is in progress on war-footing.
MoS on solar power said state has made solar power utilisation in schools, health centres, anganbadi centres and it is also being used for irrigation and drinking water. Under Saur Sujala scheme state government is providing solar irrigation pumps to farmers at lower cost. This is work is worth emulating by other states. Minister sought details of power projects and its progress in districts of Dantewada, Sukma and Bastar through video-conferencing with respective collectors.
Chhattisgarh Power Company chairman Shivraj Singh, Chief secretary Ajay Singh, Panchayat and rural development department ACS R P Mandal, Finance and home Principal secretary Amitabh Jain, Principal secretary t CM Aman Singh among other officials were present.
