Research cheer for B-school
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has given approval to Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna’s full-time doctoral research programme (fellowship programme in management) from 2018-19 session.
Sources in the B-school said the AICTE approved the doctoral programme after detailed deliberation on all specified parameters against several criteria. It has allowed the institution to take 20 candidates.
The proposal was placed before the scrutiny and expert committee, and later the application was approved in the meeting of AICTE’s executive council. Approval of the new research programme has now opened doors for candidates to pursue doctoral courses at CIMP.
“This approval is an excellent opportunity for us to register our strong presence in the management research ecosystem,” said CIMP director V. Mukunda Das.
The students are overjoyed. Ankita Bhardwaj said: “This course will help students carry out research activities.”
Space for art
The art exhibition organised by College of Arts and Crafts students ended on June 15. The exhibits ranged from paintings to sculptures and photography on which the artist students had worked for months.
Mukesh, one of the participating students in the summer camp that ended with the display, said: “I worked on a Madhubani painting. The exhibition gave us the opportunity to exhibit our talents.”
He was one of 50 and odd students from the college who participated in the summer camp where more than 100 artworks were displayed. Aall of them were presented with certificates and catalogues. Another student, Anu Priya said: “Such types of art exhibition encourage students as during these 10 days, dignitaries visited the campus and saw our work.”
Patna Museum director Yusuf had inaugurated the art exhibition on June 5. Former principal Shyam Sharma visited the exhibition.
Solar push
The new Munger University has decided to tap solar power to meet its energy requirements, as well as to make the campus carbon-neutral (reducing carbon footprint to zero).
The university’s first syndicate meeting passed the proposal recently. Vice-chancellor R.K. Verma had chaired the meeting. He later told The Telegraph: “We have decided to use solar power to meet the university’s energy requirements. Solar panels will be installed at the university building to generate power from the Sun.
“The central Bihar region receives sunlight for the maximum part of the year but there has been no effort to tap the energy created. The university has decided to tap the energy.”
The university also passed resolutions demanding land to create infrastructure for the new university. It requires land to construct administrative blocks, academic blocks, students’ amenities centre such as playground, gymnasium and library among others.
The university, which came into existence in March this year, has 17 colleges spread across Munger, Jamui, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura and Khagaria districts. The headquarters is likely to be located in Munger and it requires land to run its postgraduate departments.
