Agri pumpsets to go solar
Kakinada: The New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of AP (NREDCAP), in association with AP Transco, is planning in a big way for income generation to farming community in all 13 districts in Andhra Pradesh. Under this programme, all the agriculture pump sets with conventional power will be converted as solar pump sets in a phased manner.
1. APNREDP, in association with AP Transco, plans to convert about 17 lakh conventional agriculture pumpsets into solar pumpsets in a phased manner in all 13 districts in the State
2. Under the system, farmers can sell excess power to State power grid and earn a monthly income
of `2000, officials claim
According to sources in total 17 lakh pump sets are in operation in all the 13 districts in AP. Solar power is generated in this mode will meet the requirements of farmers for their agriculture needs. The excess power will be supplied to state power grid in active association with AP Transco in all 13 districts. In this process, the farmers will be assured of minimum of Rs 2, 0000 per month by selling the excess power generated through solar mode by individual farmers to state grid.
As far as East Godavari is concerned, there are 31,000 solar pump sets in the district. Of this, 25,000 connections are given by NREDCAP and the rest by Nabard. In the effective implementation of this, the power in the conventional process will be saved to maximum extent and the pollution free power in the form of solar power comes in to existence.
East Godavari NREDCAP district manager G Satyanarayana said that as part of this programme, in total 250 connections will be connected to AP power grid on pilot basis in East Godavari shortly. After careful study of the progress, the same would be implemented in a phased manner in all 13 districts in the state the DM clarified.
