New Delhi: Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) scrapped a tender for procurement of 500 Mw of electricity generated from wind power. The auction, which has faced several delays since it was launched at the end of February, was scrapped due to certain issues raised by bidders.
“GUVNL’s wind tender for the purchase of 500MW of grid-connected wind power through competitive bidding (phase-II) including a greenshoe option for an additional 500MW is hereby cancelled and the bidding process has been annulled,” the state’s apex power company stated in a communication on its website.
“The tender was cancelled in view of certain issues raised by the bidders, which need to be deliberated on and this may take some time. A fresh tender will be issued soon after the due deliberations,” said a source privy to the developments.
GUVNL floated the tender on February 23 but had to extend the deadline for bids on a number occasions for various reasons. Wind power players felt that certainty and stability is needed while conducting such auctions. tnn
