KMC to light up its buildings using solar power
Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has taken up a major green energy development initiative, to light up all its buildings including borough offices, health units, community halls and schools, with solar lights. Solar photovoltaic (PV) cells will be set up on the roofs of these buildings.
This initiative would make the city more environment-friendly as well as save a major chunk of the corporation’s electricity bill. Solar lights have already been installed in three parks in the city already.
The KMC will begin with its 16 borough offices and then will gradually proceed with its health units, community halls and schools.
