TAMPA BAY, FLA.: Solar Source, a residential and commercial solar contractor based in Largo, FL announced the acquisition of Superior Solar Systems, the primary solar contractor in Orlando, Florida. The acquisition essentially doubles the volume and capacity of Solar Source, which has been selling residential solar systems since 1984.
Under this agreement, Superior Solar will adopt Solar Source’s name, and retain all of its employees and office space, located in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The transition is expected to be complete in January of 2019.
This acquisition allows Solar Source to expand its footprint beyond Tampa Bay to include all of Central Florida. Consistently ranked a “Top Solar Contractor” by Solar Power World, Solar Source is solidifying its dominance in the marketplace at a time when out-of-state contractors are eyeing Florida’s growing solar market.
Solar Source has undergone significant growth in the last decade, particularly in the commercial & utility sectors with a project list that includes installations on military bases, theme parks, airports, City Halls, and more. Solar Source is the exclusive provider for the popular St. Pete Solar Co-Op that allows homeowners to use bulk-purchasing to drive down the price of solar panels.
“We’ve long admired Superior Solar and are incredibly pleased to welcome its staff and clients to the Solar Source family. This is a dream come true for me personally, and creates amazing opportunities for everyone involved,” says Solar Source Founder & President Wayne Wallace.
The immediate addition of the staff from Orlando enables Solar Source to deploy more resources toward further expansion opportunities. Those plans include additional branch locations, affiliates, and the newly formed Solar Source Buying Club, which is a volume discount program that allows the company to lower costs.
“There’s a natural fit between the two companies and the management group that’s been assembled,” said Richard Smith, President of Superior Solar. “Our team is excited to continue to grow with Solar Source.”
