Students from Punjab’s Lovely Professional University (LPU) have developed a solar-powered driverless smart bus. The vehicle was displayed at the 106th edition of the Indian Science Congress (ISC).

The completely pollution-free bus has been priced at Rs 6 lakh. It uses only renewable energy in the form of electric motor and solar power for propulsion, reported India Today.

The event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jalandhar.

The bus, which took 12 months to programme, is packed with some great features. It can run at a speed of 30 km per hour. It has a capacity of 10 to 30 people and can travel up to 70 kilometre on a single charge.

According to a report by India Today, the bus uses GPS and Bluetooth for navigation. It can also be controlled within a radius of 10 meters.
