OP Jindal University, Raigarh’s Solar Vehicle Manufacturing team – ‘Solaric,

Raigarh: OP Jindal University, Raigarh’s Solar Vehicle Manufacturing team – ‘Solaric,’ participated in Asia’s biggest Electric Solar Vehicle Championship 2K19 organized by ISIE-INDIA during March 27- 31, 2019 at Chandigarh. The team manufactured a solar vehicle which has unique design; and is ergonomically sound, dynamically stable, light in weight and solar powered. Along with all these features, the vehicle is very smooth in driving and gives comfort at the same time. After passing the qualifying rounds of the competition, the OPJU team entered in the final round of Electric Solar Vehicle Championship 2K19 and the Vehicle was awarded with the Spirit of ESVC, 2019. A team of 30 students of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering of the University under the guidance of Dr S. S. Chakrabarti and Prof. Pradeep S. Chauhan fabricated and showcased the vehicle in the competition.

Dr R D Patidar, Vice Chancellor, OPJU congratulated the team and appreciated their efforts. He further praised them for flying the flag of OPJU high. Dr P S Bokare, Dean- SoE appreciated the efforts of the Solaric Team for creating a benchmark for budding and future engineers. He asked them to work more on renewable energy and create new high in the field of automobile sector.

Dr Bokare also informed that many organisations have sponsored the Solar Vehicle Project and extended their help. He expressed his gratitude to the sponsors of the project- Chattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA), National Thermal Power Corporation, Lara, Fronius India Pvt Ltd, Pune, Edmont (Noida), Kaho Solar Pvt Limited, Sun Mobility Pvt Limited, Nalwa Steel & Power Ltd, and Jindal Steel and Power Limited for their valuable support in nurturing the future and future engineers. Acknowledging the efforts of the team members, the captain of the team Mr Sheepath Mishra (Mechanical Engineering) and Vice-captains of the team Mr Harshit Dubey (Mechanical Engineering), Mr Rishav (CSE) and Mr Aditya Amboly (EEE) thanked the guides and the University management for their continuous support and motivation in completing the project and achieving the success.
