SMA Delivers Seven Medium Voltage Power Stations for a 42MW Large-Scale Solar Plant in Vietnam
Ninh Thuan District, Vietnam: Another large-scale PV power plant project with system technology from SMA Solar Technology AG (SMA) has been commissioned in the Ninh Thuan District in Vietnam. The Vietnamese EPC, SCI E&C Joint Stock Company has built the Gelex Ninh Thuan Solar Farm with a capacity of 50MWp for owner Gelex Ninh Thuan Energy One Member Limited Company in order to further develop the electricity supply with renewable energies in Vietnam.
“SMA has been substantially contributing its expertise in helping Vietnam achieve energy independence, we are very happy to see that the Vietnamese market for utility-scale PV power plants is progressing toward the nation’s energy goals,” said Rakesh Khanna, Managing Director of SMA India & Southeast Asia. “With more than 500 MW of PV inverters shipped to Vietnam, SMA significantly contributes to the country’s energy development vision. SMA is strongly committed to the Vietnamese market and has pledged its expertise in the progress of the Vietnamese PV energy industry.”
SCI E&C Joint Stock Company, the EPC undertaking the execution responsibilities of the project specifically chose SMA’s Medium Voltage Power Station (MVPS 6000) solution due to its pre-configured, perfectly matched components. “The plug and play turnkey solution for easy transport, installation and commissioning allows for significant system cost reductions and enables high power outputs. With SMA’s system solution, we had a hassle-free commissioning process along with the superior technological expertise of German engineering.” said Mr. Duong Pham Xuan – Project Manager of SCI E&C Joint Stock Company.
“This is a great milestone for GELEX.” said Mr. Thang Le Van – Director of Gelex Ninh Thuan Energy One Member Limited Company, a subsidiary of Gelex Energy One Member Limited Company – 100% owned by Vietnam Electrical Equipment Joint Stock Corporation (GELEX). “This Project helps reflect our views of being a socially responsible organization in Vietnam. By choosing SMA, we are remarkably satisfied with the solution offered, and this takes us closer to our goal of reaping the maximum benefits out of renewable resources.”
The SMA Medium Voltage Power station is equipped with one or two powerful, robust Sunny Central inverters combined with perfectly adapted medium voltage components. It offers maximum power density in a 40-foot container and is as a turnkey solution available worldwide. Being the ideal choice for the new generation of PV power plants with 1500V DC voltage, the integrated system solution is
easy to transport and quick to assemble and commission in any environmental conditions.
Ninh Thuan is a typically hot and dry area in the south-central part of Vietnam. It is less affected by storms than other areas in the country and has emerged as the renewable energy centre in Vietnam.
It holds good solar energy potential, with an average of 2,600-2,800 sunshine hours per year. The province has 15 wind power projects and 27 solar power projects, with designed capacities of nearly 800MW and more than 1,808MW, respectively.
