World’s Largest Single Solar Plant Opens in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is on the path to become the world’s largest solar power producer. Abu Dhabi which is already well known for its luxury and riches, will also be decorated with yet another accolade. The United Arab Emirates is already in the process of building a concentrated solar plant, that will act as a storehouse where all the solar power can be stored and used after sunset to keep it lit.
If only this wasn’t enough, the UAE also just inaugurated the world’s largest solar farm. They seem to be very much interested and inclined to make use of this clean source of energy to the best of its capabilities.
Named as Noor Abu Dhabi, the world has received it’s gift of a the largest power plant backed up by solar power. It is built at an estimated cost, which falls somewhere around $900M. It’s costing maybe huge but the productivity is magnificent. This plant contains up to 3.2 million solar panels. It’s power productivity is also huge and yields 1.17 gigawatts, which is sufficient bro supply and cater to the needs of 90,000 people. Moreover, the use of solar energy will drastically lessen the carbon emission which causes environmental degradation at a much faster pace by around 1,0000,000 metric tons. Fascinatingly, this number falls close to taking off 200,000 cars off the road.
Projects Equivalent to Noor
Solar power is not just being made use in Abu Dhabi, it is so many countries around the world that have seen potential in this source of power. There is nothing that can match the grandeur of Noor. But India is also doing the best of its capabilities and has it’s Shakti Sthala, which produces up to 2 gigawatts of power. China stands strong too with it’s Longyangxia Dam Solar Park, which has around 4 million solar panels set in place and is potent enough to yield around 850. Megawatts of energy. When compared, the United States also makes use of its Solar Star facility, which produces somewhere around 569 megawatts of power.
There is a tough competition to UAE, as Saudi Arabia is also into erecting it’s solar farm which is expected to produce 2.6 gigawatts of power and will be located somewhere on the outside of Mecca.
By making use of solar energy and generating gigawatts of it, Abu Dhabi and the UAE as a whole can be expected to go green. They have been spending big bucks and have invested somewhere close to a million in building up a solar power parks. It was only last year that Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park was unveiled.

The employment of solar power to amp up energy sources, is a conscious effort to clean up energy sources, as per the head of Emirates Water and Electric Company, Mohammed Hassan Al Suwaidi.
“The completion of the project marks a significant milestone in the UAE’s Energy Strategy 2050, launched in 2017, to increase the contribution of clean energy in the total energy mix to 50 percent by 2050 while reducing the carbon footprint of power generation by 70 percent.”
This however does not make the prices of oil they produce to stir from the levels they want. And the solar power usage is definitely something positive. This use of renewable resources is a revolution and is making about a change and the countries are switching to these resources world wide.
