Mercedes-Benz EQA will be the next all-electric car by the company
The all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQA was first showcased as a concept vehicle at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017.
Mercedes-Benz, which kick-started its EV journey with EQC SUV, is preparing to debut its second all-electric vehicle next year. The German automaker, while unveiling the new GLA, noted that EQA will be the next electric vehicle to join its portfolio, with its global debut scheduled for 2020. Just to jog your memory, the EQA was showcased by the company at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2017 as a concept vehicle. At that time, the vehicle previewed was a three-door EV while the EQA will most certainly be a five-door car. Furthermore, Mercedes-Benz EQA will most likely be based on GLA, or at least borrow some cues from it.
Mercedes-Benz EQA concept’s silhouette will be similar to that of the GLA, which makes it a compact crossover. The front will obviously be devoid of air intakes, giving the EQA a cleaner look. And Just like the EQC, the EQA will sport minimal creases and a rounded-off profile. The EQA, if stays closer to its concept design, will get narrow window line, a sloping roofline, and wrap around tail lights which are joined by an LED strip.
Mercedes-Benz EQA’s specification are not known yet but the EQA Concept was showcased with 2 electric motors with a combined power of 60 kW which generates about 270 bhp and offered driving range of 400 km/charge. We expect the production-spec EQA to offer similar performance and range. The electric car will also come with all-wheel drive system as standard. Mercedes-Benz EQA, in all probability, will get two driving modes — Sport and Sport+ — each of which will alter the performance and range accordingly. As noted by the company, the electric vehicle will make its first appearance in 2020 and could go on sale by mid-2021.
