Neyveli Lignite to set up 4,000 MW of solar power

Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd has initiated plans to set up 4,000 mega watt (MW) of solar power projects in line with Centre’s National Solar Mission.The commencement of construction works for 65 MW solar power plant at Block-1, Neyveli was held on Friday.

This 65 MW solar power plant will be constructed in an area of 325 acres at Neyveli and approximately 2,30,465 solar photovoltaic modules (solar panels), each with the power generating capacity of 305/310 Watt will be installed in the project.

The power generated from this plant is fed to the Tamilnadu Generation and Distribution Corporation, the former TNEB. TANGEDCO – the sole beneficiary. M/S Jakson Engineering Limited, is the Engineering, Procurement and Commissioning Contractor of this Project.

In Bhoomi Pooja at Neyveli for setting up of grid interactive of 65 MW solar plant.Earlier, NLC has already established a 10 MW Solar Photo Volatic project at Neyveli, at a cost of Rs 74.60 crore commissioned by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited.

The work for the another 65 MW solar power project to be installed in the Northern side of Block-5 of Neyveli Town Ship by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited is also under progress.
