Singapore and Sweden Can Help Each Other in Sustainable-Related Businesses
Speaking at the Sweden-Southeast Asia Business Reset Summit 2021 on 25 May, Singapore’s Trade and Industry Minister Gan Kim Yong said that Singapore and Sweden can help each other in sustainable-related businesses.
The Hybrid event was the 3rd edition of the Sweden-Southeast Asia Business Summit by Team Sweden and this year the event focused on the Reset that is needed post-covid, concerning sustainability and digitalization, and what challenges and opportunities lie ahead to make this happen.
Companies in Southeast Asia and Sweden need to be prepared for the new business landscape as global markets begin their recovery and according to the Minister, there are opportunities for Singapore, Sweden, and Swedish companies in sustainability-related businesses, in line with the Singapore Green Plan 2030 that was unveiled in February.
The Minister explained that there for example is a growing demand for industrial energy efficiency solutions in Singapore and the region, and Swedish companies can seize these opportunities.
The Minister continued by saying that research collaborations between Swedish solar energy management companies and research institutes in Singapore could also be facilitated if Singaporean and Swedish solar and energy storage system companies shared their knowledge.
“Swedish companies can use Singapore as a launchpad to trial and commercialize green technology solutions for the region,” the Minister said.
