Meyer Burger receives the „Solar Visualised in Europe Award“ from the European solar industry association SolarPower Europe for the CSEM solar facade project
During the 100 GW Celebration in Brussels (Belgium), the European solar industry association SolarPower Europe presented Meyer Burger with the „Solar Visualised in Europe Award“. Meyer Burger won the award for its solar facade project on the CSEM research and technology center in Neuchâtel (Switzerland).
Meyer Burger Technology Ltd (SIX Swiss Exchange: MBTN) has won the „Solar Visualised in Europe Award“ from the European solar industry association SolarPower Europe. The winner of the award was selected during a contest entitled „The Beauty of Solar Power Europe“. Meyer Burger won this contest with a picture by Swiss photographer David Marchon of its solar facade installed on the CSEM building (Swiss research and technology organization) in Neuchâtel. The bifacial solar modules on the CSEM facade combine the innovative high-performance Heterojunction cell technology (HJT) with the ground-breaking SmartWire cell connection technology (SWCT).
The purpose behind the contest was to highlight a significant milestone. According to IHS Markit, in the second quarter of 2016, the total amount of installed grid-connected photovoltaic power in Europe reached the 100 GW benchmark. In 2005 the installed photovoltaic capacity in Europe was less than 3 GW. The European solar industry, which is the world leader in the development of innovative solar technology, has made a major contribution to the achievement of this milestone. With its pioneering Heterojunction and SmartWire Connection Technologies, which are installed on the CSEM building, Meyer Burger ensures that solar power can be produced even more efficiently and cost-effectively.
On the occasion of the 100 GW Celebration in Brussels, Claude Turmes, Member of the European Parliament, presented the award to Gunter Erfurt, Managing Director of Meyer Burger (Germany) Ltd.
