Morocco Hosts International Solar Car Race in October 2021
Morocco will host an international race for solar-powered cars Oct.23-29 with the participation of world’s leading universities seeking to push the limits of technological innovation in a bid to stimulate scientific research and contribute to development of efficient road transport.
“Solar Challenge Morocco 2021” gives passionate and smart students the opportunity to hone their skills in teamwork and fast track their careers in the fields of engineering and green automotive technology.
The 2,500-km long race includes five stages (from Agadir to Merzouga) and 2 desert bivouacs. The best and fastest electric vehicles showing high endurance and energy efficiency will win the Moroccan challenge.
Solar cars use photovoltaic cells to convert energy from sunlight into electricity. These cars can store some solar energy in batteries to allow them to run smoothly at night or in the absence of direct sunlight.
The ultimate goal is to contribute to development of experimental solar vehicles operating only by the energy of the sun.
