Solar panels donated to KNP
The Wildlife Conservation Trust, Mumbai has donated 178 solar panels and the entire charging unit systems in an integrated form to cover all the 178 anti-poaching camps of the Kaziranga National Park. Informing this, the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, (Kaziranga), DFO Suvasish Das told this correspondent that earlier the authority of the Kaziranga National Park had requested many organisations including Wildlife NGOs to extend a helping hand by providing solar panels to be fitted at the anti-poaching camps. Finally, the Mumbai body, the Wildlife Conservation Trust came forward and donated the solar panel systems, which was formally distributed to the forest camps of Kaziranga on October 13. The DFO said that two rooms, including the kitchen of each camp would have fixed solar lights and another one which is movable in nature would be used by forest staff when they need to go out to attend nature’s call during night time, much to the relief of the forest guards staying at those anti- poaching camps. These solar panels would also enable charging of mobile phones, walkie talkies, cameras and other necessary electronic gadgets.
