The board of directors of Ream Management’s renewable power arm Unigreen Energy, a silicon wafer and PV cell manufacturer and renewables developer, appointed Igor Shakhray as its new CEO after his 8-year tenure with Hevel Group.
Unigreen Energy will operate a new gigawatt factory in Kaliningrad region with capacity of 1.3 GW of silicon n-type monocrystalline ingots and wafers as well as 1 GW of HJT solar cells. The fab is scheduled to come online in 2022.
Being a vertically integrated company Unigreen Energy continues to make its foray into CIS, European and Latin America solar markets aiming to reach 3 GW portfolio by 2024.
Mr Shakhray is one of the key persons behind established-from-scratch Russia’s solar industry: before becoming CEO of Hevel Group, Mr. Shakhray served as chief technical officer of solar module manufacturing plant being responsible for putting first Russia’s PV plant into operation.
Holding the position of CEO at Hevel Group since 2015 Mr. Shakhray led the switch of the plant to heterojunction technology and capacity extension from 130 to 350 MW. He played a key role in shaping at Hevel Group a vertically integrated business by entering new segments – EPC&M and R&D.
