India can achieve cost-effective round-the-clock Renewable Power: Dr Ajay Mathur – EQ Mag Pro
Kolkata : India can achieve the ultimate milestone of cost-effective round-the-clock renewable power with right interventions related to technology, regulatory & policy ecosystem,business models and trained workforce across the entire RE value chain, said Dr Ajay Mathur,Director General, International Solar Alliance.
Delivering the inaugural address of Green Power 2021 on Thursday, Dr Mathur said “India ison the cusp of large changes in the renewable energy sector with an aspiration of 50% penetrationby the end of the decade from the current 20%.
He identified solar PV modules, batteries and electrolysers as the key technologies that wouldbring about the transformation in RE sector in India. He also stressed on the need for collaboration among various stakeholders.
In his theme address, Ramesh Kymal, Chairman, Renewable Energy Council, said, “India has a wind turbine manufacturing capacity of 10 GW/ annum. The wind sector has the potential to become ‘Make in India’ and ‘Make for the World”.
Stressing on the importance of safety & quality of rooftop solar systems, he mentioned, “CII will rate 1,000 rooftop solar vendors under the Rooftop Solar Vendor Rating Program”which is aimed at creating a network of high performing solar vendors in the country.
He also added, “We at CII are fully committed in facilitating India to become a world leader in renewable energy”.
In the inaugural session, a report on ‘Corporate Renewable Energy Procurement’ prepared by CII under the Power Sector Reforms Programme of UK FCDO was launched by the Chief Guest Dr Ajay Mathur.
Renewable Energy Council of CII-Godrej Green Business Centre is hosting the 20th edition of‘ Green Power’ on December 9 & 10. The main objective of Green Power is to promote business friendly policy framework & long-term investments in the Indian Renewable Energy sectorand to support the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for meeting its target of 175 GW by2022 & 500 GW by 2030.
Green Power 2021 features a 2-day virtual conference, wherein 50+ distinguished speakers deliberate on various aspects related to renewable energy such as national & global RE trends, emerging trends & innovations in RE, corporate renewables, utility & rooftop solar, wind & financing. More than 300 participants are expected to participate in the conference over a period of 2 days.
