Enabling Advanced Technologies in Power Distribution
An Initiative under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS)
Currently the power distribution utilities in India face numerous challenges, that limited their ability to improve upon the AT&C loss level and ACoS-ARR gap. Lately a “Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS)” has also been rolled out by the Ministry of Power (MoP) for improving upon same.
The scheme lays special emphasis on leveraging advanced technologies to analyze data generated through Information Technology (IT)/ Operational Technology (OT) devices to solve the current challenges. REC envisage to call upon the Technology Solutions Provider (TSPs) to demonstrate advanced technology-based solutions.
Lately, it has signed an MoU with Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) under IIT Bombay as ‘incubator cum technology partner’, which will support in facilitating the screening, selection, monitoring and scaling up the solutions to be proposed by TSPs. The POWERTHON-2022, will act as a platform for competitive screening of the established TSPs and startups to showcase their technology driven solutions to address the current challenges, the solutions can be based on any advanced emerging technologies like AI/ML, Blockchain, IoT, VR/AR etc.
