  • A total of 1.08 GW of ground mounted solar power capacity has been contracted by Bundesnetzagentur under its March 1, 2022 technology specific auction

  • Lowest and highest winning tariffs ranged between €0.0405 to €0.0555 per kWh for the auction where bids were capped at €0.0557 per kWh

  • Bavaria was the choicest location with 488 MW capacity set to come up here, followed by 223 MW in Rhineland-Palatinate

  • Next technology specific tender round for ground mounted solar PV capacity is scheduled for June 1, 2022

  • German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has selected 201 bids to award 1.084 GW solar power capacity under the country’s 1st technology specific solar auction for ground mounted systems in 2022.

The auction was slightly oversubscribed with 1.108 GW original capacity offered compared to 209 bids coming in for 1.116 GW. Bids for this round were capped at €0.0557 per kWh.

The average weighted winning bid of €0.0519 per kWh rose from €0.05 per kWh recorded in the previous round held on Nov. 1, 2021, while lowest and highest bids ranged between €0.0405 to €0.0555 per kWh.

Of the auctioned capacity, a maximum of 488 MW will be built in Bavaria, followed by 223 MW in Rhineland-Palatinate, 67 MW in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and 66 MW in Saarland. It added that 366 MW capacity will be located on arable land or grassland in Bavaria.

Details of the awarded capacity and winners is available on the agency’s website.

The agency will hold the next technology specific tender round for ground mounted solar on June 1, 2022.

Bundesnetzagentur is tasked with launching tenders for 3.6 GW solar power capacity in 2022, to be divided equally between 3 phases. However, auction volumes are likely to be increased as announced by the government under the country’s draft Easter Package which eyes 215 GW cumulative installed solar power capacity by 2030.
