NHPC Limited has reported a robust 27.89% year on year growth in the standalone net profit at Rs. 1554.66 Crore during second quarter of current fiscal against Rs. 1215.67 Crore of the corresponding period. Profit after tax for the half year reported for Rs. 2412.48 Crore against Rs. 2013.84 Crore of the corresponding period. It was mainly boosted by better operational efficiency, Tariff finalization (2014-19) by CERC for some of the power stations, Other income. The NHPC Board approved the Q-2 FY16 unaudited result in their meeting held on November 18, 2016.
Gross generation of the company was up by 2% to 8941 MU for July – September 2016 quarter in comparison to the same period of the previous fiscal. The plant availability factor (PAF) has been reported at 95.20% as against previous year corresponding figure of 92.7%.
Sales for the second quarter of the current fiscal FY16 rose 9.40% year-on-year basis to Rs. 2403.36 Crore, as compared to Rs. 2196.79 Crore reported in the year-ago period.
PERFORMANCE HIGLIGHTS
Ø As per unaudited financial results for the half-year ended 30th September 2016, NHPC Limited earned net profit of Rs. 2412.48 Crore as against Rs. 2013.84 crore earned during corresponding period of the financial year, thereby registering an increase of 19.79%.
Ø Registered sales turnover of Rs. 4600 crore which is 5.83% higher than the sales turnover of Rs. 4346.57 crore registered during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Ø Realization of dues stands at Rs. 3275 crore against billing of Rs. 4140 crore as on 30.09.2016.
Ø Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi dedicated Parbati-III Power Station (520 MW) to the Nation during a function held at Mandi, Himachal Pradesh on 18.10.2016.
Ø Commissioned balance 2 units of 80 MW TLDP-IV Power Station in West Bengal
Ø Commissioned 50 MW Wind Power Project at Jaisalmer (Rajasthan), marking the entry of NHPC in the renewable energy generation. The Power Purchase Agreement for the project had been signed with Govt. of Rajasthan and INOX Ltd. on 28th September 2016.
Ø NHPC signed Energy Purchase Agreement (EPA) with TANGEDCO, Tamilnadu for development of 50 MW Solar Power Project in Tamil Nadu on 05.10.2016.
Ø Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between NHPC & National Institute of Wind Energy, Chennai (formerly CWET) for providing technical consultancy services for the development of wind/solar energy projects by NHPC on 07.10.2016 at Chennai.
Ø NHPC on 10.02.2016 has signed a MoU with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO), Govt. of Maharashtra, for development of 50 MW solar PV Project in Maharashtra.
Ø Govt. of India successfully rose more than Rs. 2700 crore by divesting 11.36 % of its stake in NHPC by making an offer for sale (OFS) through Stock Exchange Mechanism.
Ø 4560 m long Jiwa Feeder Tunnel of 800 MW Parbati-II H.E. Project has been daylighted on 06.06.2016. The tunnel was excavated under adverse geological condition.
Ø A Power Purchase Agreement with Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited has been signed for Tawang H.E. Project, Stage-I (600 MW) and Stage –II (800 MW).
Ø MoU signed with BHEL on 21.07.2016 to explore and avail business opportunities in the field of hydropower projects in overseas markets. Under this MoU, BHEL will undertake the Electro-mechanical package & related works and NHPC will undertake civil and related works of the hydropower projects.
Ø Contract Agreement for Renovation & Modernization of Baira Siul Power Station was signed with BHEL on 08.09.2016 at New Delhi.
Ø PPAs for upcoming Projects of Tawang – I & II and Teesta – IV Project as well as extension of PPAs for 35 years for Rangit & Teesta – V HE Projects were signed with Govt. of Bihar on 26.09.2016 at Patna.
Ø Hydropower Forum of India under the aegis of Enertia Foundation and Renewable Energy Promotion Association conferred “Best Hydropower Enterprise Award” to NHPC Limited.
Ø Awarded 1st prize under ‘Best Miniratna category’ at Dun & Bradstreet PSU Awards 2016.
Ø Awarded “Second Prize” by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India under “Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar” for outstanding work in implementation of Rajbhasha amongst public sector undertakings located in Region ‘A’ for the year 2015-16.
Ø NHPC won the Second Award under the category of Public-Manufacturing (Large) at the 13th National Awards for Excellence in Cost Management-2015. The prestigious award instituted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India was received on 28th May 2016 at New Delhi.
Ø NHPC was conferred the “PSE Excellence Award” for securing third place in the Mini Ratnas and others category for corporate governance for the year 2015 at the 6th PSE Excellence Awards organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce in association with the DPE, Govt. of India on 6th July 2016 in New Delhi.
Ø NHPC currently has an installed capacity of 5147 MW at standalone and 6717 MW on consolidated basis with a total of 22 operating power stations. 19 hydro power stations besides one wind power project are operated by NHPC while 2 are operated by NHDC a subsidiary company with the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Apart from this, the company has a total of 3 hydropower projects under construction with total installed capacity of 3130 MW which includes Kishanganga (330MW), Parbati-II (800MW) & Subansiri Lower (2000 MW).
Ø During the current financial year, NHPC is expecting to commission 330 MW Kishanganga Project in Jammu & Kashmir. 100 MW each is also likely to be added from Wind and Solar Power Projects respectively.
Ø NHPC is also envisaging 4 renewable energy projects on ownership basis – viz., 2 nos. Wind power projects (130 MW) & 2 nos. solar power projects (100 MW) which are presently under clearance stage. 1 no. Solar power project (50 MW) in Kalpi, UP under consideration in JV mode.
