Sweden’s Helios Nordic Energy AB, a portfolio company of Norwegian renewable energy investor Magnora ASA (OSE:MGN), has sold two solar projects totalling 32 MWp in Sweden to Norwegian independent power producer Solgrid.

The solar power plants are expected to be completed in 2023/2024 and to generate enough electricity to meet the annual needs of about 4,000 Swedish households, according to an announcement today. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The buyer, Solgrid, is owned by Norwegian utilities including Akershus Energi and Østfold Energi. Set up in 2020, it has the ambition to become a leading Nordic producer of solar energy. Solgrid has a portfolio of more than 1 GW in Norway and Sweden at different stages.

Peter Nygren, board member of Helios, commented that the EU’s goal of becoming independent of Russian energy is positive for the company and the solar industry as a whole.

Magnora chief executive Erik Sneve expressed satisfaction with the development of Helios and said its pipeline is expected to lead to multiple transactions in the coming years. In less than six months the developer has completed deals for 146 MWp with investors such as OX2, Commerz Real and Solgrid.

Helios develops solar and battery storage projects in Sweden and recently in Lithuania and Latvia, with a current pipeline of 1.62 GW.
