YPF Luz signed two agreements with the EPSE (Provincial Energy Company of the State) to promote its solar projects in San Juan and position itself as the main generator of renewable energy in the country.

The signing took place at the Provincial Government House with the presence of the Governor, Sergio Uñac; the president of YPF, Pablo González; the CEO of YPF LUZ, Martin Mandarano; the director and president of YTEC, Roberto Salvarezza; the Minister of Works and Services of San Juan, Julio Ortiz Andino; the Minister of Government of San Juan, Alberto Hensel; the president of EPSE, Juan Caparroz and the president of EPRE, Oscar Trad, among other authorities.

“ Advancing in renewable projects throughout the country is a goal on which we are working hard. We have the goal of installing 500MW of solar energy and, in this way, position ourselves as the country’s renewable energy leaders through YPF Luz ”, said Pablo Gonzalez , president of YPF. And he added “ YPF Luz has shown efficiency, professionalism and knowledge to install renewable energy where it is most needed. The company confirmed that renewable energies, in addition to taking care of the planet, are a profitable business. In this sense, the work carried out with YPF Litio is an important step to continue advancing in the energy transition ”.

For his part, Sergio Uñac , governor of the province of San Juan, said ” It is a historic day for San Juan because as of this agreement, our province is part of a strategic union of renewable energy generation with the most important company that has the country that is YPF “. In addition, he highlighted “ San Juan is one of the 5 most important places in the world to generate solar energy. Added to our human capital, it means that YPF is investing and has its eyes on the province. In San Juan we consider the promotion of renewable energies as a State policy. We have 16 solar power plants that represent 46% of solar parks in operation in Argentina .”

Through the first of the agreements, YPF Luz and the EPSE agreed to use the 132 Kv line. for the transport of the energy that will be generated by the El Zonda solar park. This is the first solar project being built by YPF Luz and it is located in the town of Bella Vista, department of Iglesia, one of the points with the highest radiation in the world. The Zonda is being developed on an area of approximately 300 hectares and will have a total installed capacity of 300 MW in three stages of 100 MW each, equivalent to the consumption of 140,000 homes.

Also, both companies advanced in the signing for the joint construction of the 200MW Tocota Solar Park. The EPSE will be in charge of providing the land and the interconnection, and YPF Luz will complete the development. The realization of the project will require an estimated investment of 200 million dollars.

With an investment of approximately 1,600 million dollars, YPF Luz has been betting since 2013 on the generation of electricity and the development of energy from renewable sources in Argentina. These agreements not only reflect the Company’s commitment to continue diversifying the national energy matrix, but also the support and commitment to the growth of the sector throughout the country.
