Flowtrik, Salcomp ink pact to produce chargers for EVs – EQ Mag Pro
Chennai : Flowtrik, an Indian Institute of Technology Madras Incubation Cell startup has partnered with manufacturer of chargers and adaptors for smartphones and other devices Salcomp India to produce chargers for electric vehicles, officials said here on Thursday.
As part of the partnership, Salcomp will be the exclusive manufacturing and business development partner for Flowtrik which designs the chargers for advanced batteries like Li-ion, advanced lead acid used in electric vehicles.
Banking on IIT Madras Research Park’s research and development capabilities, Flowtrik is ready to enter the market with a range of portable, alternate current (AC) chargers among others.
The collaboration marks an important step in the advancement of not only witnessing exceptional research and development in India, but also the manufacturing capabilities for India and the global market.
“India is surely on the way to become a manufacturing nation. I am overjoyed that Salcomp tie-up with Flowtrik, a company incubated at IIT-M Incubation Cell, becomes its (Salcomp) research and development partner..,” IIT Madras Research Park, IIT-M Incubation Cell, president, professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala said in a press release.
“Salcomp will commercialise this research and development and take it to the markets in India and the world,” he said.
Salcomp India managing director Sasikumar Gendham said, “Salcomp aims to play a significant role in the electric vehicle ecosystem not only for India, but also rest of the world..we would like to provide highest quality and reliable products at very competitive pricing to spur the EV revolution,” he said.
“This partnership with Flowtrik will augment us to be a significant player in the EV space,” he added.
