Bihar: Plan to install solar plants on govt & school buildings soon – EQ Mag
Patna Important tourist places of the state including Rajgir, Bodh Gaya and Vaishali as well as government offices in Patna will start getting power supply through solar energy from 2024. Bihar has installed solar plants on 2,300 government buildings. While 8 thousand more places have been identified.
This was announced by Principal Secretary (Energy) Sanjeev Hans in a discussion organized on Jal Jeevan Hariyali Diwas at Vidyut Bhawan here on March 7. Speaking on the occasion, State Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said that solar power plants should be installed in the school. So that their electricity needs can be met by solar energy only. Along with this, floating solar plants will be installed near the ponds being developed by the Water Resources Department in the state.

He said that water resources and education departments can jointly chalk out a green strategy. Both the departments have sufficient resources and space to install solar units. These steps will go a long way in saving electricity generated by burning fossil fuels and promoting green sustainable energy. He said that government schools run during day time. The solar units will be sufficient to meet the electricity needs of the schools. Appreciating the ‘Jal Jeevan Hariyali’ programme, the Minister said that the need for green energy has received historical attention across the world.
