Sunnova secures 38 MW in latest New England forward capacity auction – EQ Mag
US residential solar and battery storage company Sunnova Energy International Inc (NYSE:NOVA) has secured 38 MW in the latest ISO-New England forward capacity auction, FCA17.
The company said on Monday this means it now has the largest wholesale market capacity position by a behind-the-meter solar and battery storage developer in the New England region. The latest win takes its total capacity cleared in the ISO-NE market to more than 188 MW.
Sunnova’s commitment is priced at some USD 2.59 (EUR 2.42) per kW-month, with the gross value across the term anticipated to be about USD 16 million.
Forward capacity auctions (FCAs) for the New England power system are held annually. ISO New England on Friday said the latest auction secured 31,370 MW of capacity commitments for the 2026/2027 period.
This includes more than 5,000 MW of new and existing solar and wind generation, energy storage, and demand resources. Almost 750 MW of new renewable energy, energy storage, and demand-reducing resources cleared the auction.
“This year’s auction secured the lineup of resources—including clean electricity generation, energy storage, and resources that reduce demand—needed to meet the region’s power system reliability requirements, at a low price,” said Peter Brandien of ISO New England.
Sunnova executive Michael Grasso commented that the company’s efforts to expand its portfolio benefit not only its customers but also the broader community.
