Amazon partners with Eicher to deploy electric trucks for deliveries in India – EQ Mag
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Amazon will deploy up to 1,000 cutting edge, zero-emission electric trucks for its delivery operations over the next 5 years.
Amazon India is partnering with Eicher Motors and Buses to further electrify its e-commerce logistics in the country. This move is an important step towards Amazon’s active efforts to decarbonize its transportation and create a more sustainable delivery fleet. Initially, Amazon will deploy 50 electric trucks by the end of 2023 in Indore, Delhi, Manesar, and Gurugram. Over the next five years, Amazon plans to deploy up to 1,000 electric trucks with varying payload capabilities in its delivery operations.

The electric trucks—with deck lengths ranging from 8 to 24 feet—will come equipped with advanced digital features and a customisable cargo stacking system. This will ensure seamless and efficient deliveries to our customers’ homes.
The service solution from Eicher also factors in availability of charging infrastructure, operational requirements, charging time constraints, battery capacity, and overall energy management strategies of the fleet. The trucks will be a testament to the power of innovation and collaboration, with multiple fast and slow charging options tailored to meet the unique needs of logistics operations.
