Chairman and Managing Director Gurdeep Singh, the nation’s first Green Hydrogen fuelling station will be inaugurated by the state-owned power company NTPC Ltd in Ladakh next month. We anticipate that this project will be very beneficial as a trial, and we want to make it operational in one month. By the way, we lost some time as a result of the recent severe rains and the destruction to the road infrastructure, Singh stated during a speech at the ceremony.

The project will generate 80 Kg of 99.97% pure hydrogen each day, which will be compressed, stored, and released. Five hydrogen fuel cell buses will be operated by the company in the area. Our hydrogen bus is already in place, and it will be a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) because it will be powered by hydrogen fuel. The solar power setup in Leh itself would be used to manufacture this green hydrogen.

He added that the National Hydrogen Policy, which the government just implemented, is laying the groundwork for the further development of this fuel. The ministry has been taking trailblazing measures in that direction, Singh said, and Green Hydrogen is the best alternative because it has the potential to overtake conventional fuel in the next ten years.

“Around three years ago, we at NTPC saw that hydrogen would be crucial for the shift and for NTPC as a business potential. We have put into operation our first green hydrogen pilot in our own township, where green hydrogen is produced using clean energy from floating solar and then injected into the township’s piped natural gas network, the official said. A further very ambitious hydrogen pilot project is being undertaken by the company, according to Singh, in Vindhyachal, where 10 tonnes of green methanol are produced daily. The project is already far along in the commissioning process and is most likely to be finished by December 31.
