NTPC Generates 315 bn Units of Power in 9 Months – EQ

In Short : NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) has generated 315 billion units of power in the first nine months of the fiscal year. This substantial power generation highlights NTPC’s significant contribution to meeting the electricity demands in India and its role as a major power producer in the country.

In Detail : NTPC Ltd., a leading power generation company with a current group installed capacity of nearly 74 GW, unveiled its unaudited financial results for the third quarter and nine months ending December 31, 2023.

During the nine months of the fiscal year 2024, the NTPC Group exhibited robust performance by generating 315 billion Units, showing a significant increase from 295 billion Units recorded in the corresponding period of FY23. NTPC’s standalone gross generation for the same period reached 268 billion Units, compared to 255 billion Units in the previous fiscal year.

Highlighting the efficiency of NTPC’s coal stations, the Plant Load Factor (PLF) achieved an impressive 76.40 percent during the nine months of FY24, surpassing the National Average PLF of 68.51 percent.

On a standalone basis, NTPC reported a Total Income of ₹1,21,486 crore for the nine months ending December 2023, compared to ₹1,24,685 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. The Profit After Tax (PAT) for 9MFY24 stood at ₹12,523 crore, showcasing an 8.67 percent increase from ₹11,524 crore in the same period last year.

The consolidated financial performance of the NTPC Group for the same period was also robust. The Total Income amounted to ₹1,32,349 crore for 9M FY24, slightly down from ₹1,33,231 crore in the previous fiscal year. However, the group’s Profit After Tax (PAT) witnessed a substantial increase of 21.16 percent, reaching ₹14,842 crore for 9MFY24, compared to ₹12,250 crore in the corresponding previous period.
