Sustainability Mafia (SusMafia) has awarded its largest non-equity climate entrepreneurship grant to BioCompute, a DNA-based data storage startup, at its SusCrunch 2024 event. The grant, worth Rs 3.1 Lakhs, aims to propel BioCompute in combating climate change.
SusCrunch 2024 brought together over 300 climate decision-makers, including startups, investment funds, and corporates. The event witnessed on-the-spot funding commitments from several angel investors.
Priya Shah, General Partner of Theia Ventures, stated, “We aim to catalyze $ 100 million in investments into Indian climate tech startups on behalf of individual and angel syndicate investors by 2030.”
The summit also featured pitches from other promising climate action startups and a soft launch of Planet Electric’s high-performance electric trucks.
Kuldeep Jain, Founder and MD of CleanMax, shared his insights and said, “The buzz at the inaugural SusCrunch goes to show how this has changed. The community is alive and is ready to mobilize the movement further.”
SusVentures, a SusMafia program, graduated its first cohort in collaboration with BITS Pilani. Five student startups from BITS Pilani mentored by SusMafia were showcased at SusCrunch 2024.
