In Short : Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a contract to build a 185 MW solar PV plant with 254 MWh of storage in Bihar. This project enhances renewable energy capacity and supports reliable power supply through integrated energy storage.

In Detail : According to L&T’s classification, the value of this significant contract ranges between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore.

Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission & Distribution division has won a contract to build a 185MW Solar PV Plant with a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Kajra, Bihar. The project supports the state’s renewable energy goals and addresses climate change while meeting its growing energy demands.

The 254MWh BESS will store solar energy during low demand and discharge it during peak demand, helping to stabilise fluctuations in power generation, regulate frequency, and support voltage levels. It also includes a black start capability for quick grid re-energisation after outages.

According to L&T’s classification, the value of this significant contract ranges between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore.

“This is a welcome addition to our Renewable EPC portfolio of 18 GWp (Gigawatt Peak) cumulative capacity, comprising solar and wind generation projects already commissioned and in the making. On the battery energy storage system front, we handle more than 1.5 GWh of storage capacity,” said Ravindran, senior vice-president and head of Renewable Strategic Business Group at Larsen & Toubro PT&D.
