In Short : Blue Energy Motors plans to invest ₹3,500 crore in setting up an electric vehicle (EV) truck manufacturing plant in Maharashtra. The facility will focus on producing advanced EV trucks to meet growing demand for sustainable transportation. This investment aligns with India’s push for green mobility, creating jobs and supporting the state’s vision for clean industrial growth.

In Detail : Blue Energy Motors Ltd. has signed an agreement with the Maharashtra government to set up an electric truck manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 30,000 vehicles. The memorandum of understanding was signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos, marking the company’s entry into large-scale electric commercial vehicle production.

The company plans to invest Rs 3,500 crore to establish the manufacturing facility, which will include research and development capabilities, a battery-pack production line, and a motor manufacturing unit. The project, scheduled to begin in fiscal year 2025-26, is expected to create 4,000 direct jobs.

Anirudh Bhuwalka, CEO of Blue Energy Motors, said the facility will produce zero-emission electric trucks using AI and machine learning technologies. The company, which partners with Essar’s green mobility initiative, will also establish charging stations as part of the project.

The investment comes as India’s commercial vehicle sector undergoes a transition toward electric mobility. The government has been promoting electric vehicles through various initiatives, including the FAME scheme and state-level EV policies, to reduce carbon emissions from the transport sector.

Maharashtra has emerged as a key hub for electric vehicle manufacturing in India. The state government has introduced policies to attract investments in the EV sector, offering incentives for manufacturing units and charging infrastructure development.

The commercial electric vehicle market in India is at a nascent stage, with several companies entering the space to meet the growing demand for sustainable transport solutions. Industry analysts expect the electric commercial vehicle segment to grow significantly in the coming years, driven by lower operating costs and environmental regulations.

Blue Energy Motors, established as a clean energy transportation company, aims to address the challenges of climate change and sustainable development through its electric trucking solutions. The company’s focus aligns with India’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote clean mobility solutions.
