New team and acquisition of solar project pipeline boosts Solarcentury’s Latin American business
Four new solar industry professionals have joined Solarcentury’s Latin American business, from private equity investor ECOSolar. Enhancing the LatAm team strengthens Solarcentury’s ambition to become the leading developer in the region. The 400MW of utility-scale pipeline acquired from ECOSolar includes solar projects that are a mix of ready to build and partially developed sites across Mexico, and Central and South America. The new starters bring extensive expertise of LatAm project development, to bolster the Solarcentury teams across the Panamanian, Mexican and Chilean offices. Enrique de Ramon (ECOSolar General Manager) now leads Solarcentury’s business in LatAm; Fernando Zuñiga leads Development across the region excluding Mexico; and other new joiners include Gabriela Bergantino and Belkis Rios.
Enrique de Ramon, Managing Director of Solarcentury in Latin America said, “Solarcentury’s development experience will ensure that the sizeable pipeline of acquired projects will be converted to completed projects, ensuring ROI for investors, and that businesses will benefit from cheaper power for the lifetime of the projects. The project pipeline for the whole of Solarcentury’s LatAm business is now over 1GW; the team and I look forward to growing this further. The significant strength of Solarcentury’s LatAm team means the company is exceptionally well placed to become a market leader in the region.”
Frans van den Heuvel, CEO at Solarcentury said, “Solarcentury has past experience of working with ECOSolar so we are confident that it is a positive cultural fit. The new starters in the LatAm business, together with the many talented Solarcentury people already working across our LatAm offices, will build on the multi-megawatt projects we’ve already delivered in the region. This will add to the 800MW of solar projects Solarcentury has already delivered, across four continents.” The new joiners are based in Panama City which is Solarcentury’s regional hub.
