U.S. generation of renewable fuel blending credits fell in June from the previous month, data from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) showed on Thursday. Some 1.26 billion renewable fuel (D6) blending credits were created last month, versus 1.27 billion in May. For biodiesel, 401 million credits were generated in June, versus 356 million the previous month, the data showed. The credits are used by oil refiners and importers to show compliance with EPA-mandated ethanol blending quotas for petroleum-based fuels. They are created with every gallon of biofuel produced.
