Italian utility A2A SpA (BIT:A2A) has wrapped up the acquisition of 353 MW of wind and solar power capacity in Spain and Italy in deals with a combined equity value of EUR 452 million (USD 484.2m).

The capacity was purchased from Paris-based investment house Ardian, A2A said on Tuesday.

According to the original agreement from January, A2A has paid EUR 265 million in equity to acquire unspecified stakes in 335 MW of wind projects in Italy. The schemes in question are held by three companies of Ardian’s funds – 3New&Partners, Daunia Calvello and Daunia Serracapriola. The transaction has given the Italian utility a pro-rata ownership of 196 MW of the total portfolio capacity.

Separately, A2A has purchased 157 MW of wind and solar projects from Ardian for an equity consideration of EUR 187 million. The portfolio consists of four projects, including 117 MW in Italy and 40 MW in Spain.

The wind farms covered by the two agreements are located in the Italian regions of Sardinia, Puglia, Campania and Spain’s Catalonia, while the solar farms are situated in Puglia and Lazio, Italy, and Andalusia, Spain.
