ABB reaffirms commitment to sustainable power with new solar innovations at Solar Power International 2017
ABB is unveiling new solar power conversion and energy storage devices and solutions at this year’s Solar Power International event. This demonstrates ABB’s commitment to support the generation of safe, clean and sustainable power, as well as its continued investment in developing innovative solar power technology. These innovations are part of the ABB Ability™ digital portfolio of connected and software-enabled solutions that allow customers to know more, do more and do better.

New residential inverter for smart building applications (3.3–6.0 kW)
UNO-DM-PLUS: This inverter is not just smart…it is intelligent. ABB’s new single-phase inverter family, the UNO-DM-PLUS series represents the optimal solution for residential PV installations. It is future-proof and flexible, with a compact design for power ratings from 3.3 to 6.0 kW, enabling integration with current and future devices for smart building automation. The presence of Plug and Play connectors and an easy commissioning routine enables simple, fast and cost effective installation without needing to open the inverter cover, while the built-in user interface enables access to features such as advanced inverter configuration settings, dynamic feed-in control and load manager.
TRIO-TM: The newest addition to ABB’s three-phase, commercial product line is the TRIO-TM. This three MPPT version features power ratings up to 60kW and has been designed with enhanced flexibility in mind to maximize the ROI in large systems. Easy and fast commissioning is guaranteed with an embedded web user interface through any WLAN device. Furthermore, a Sunspec compliant Modbus protocol enables easy integration with third party monitoring and control systems.

New string inverter for industrial and utility applications (120 kW)
PVS-120: Get a sneak peek at the new high-power string inverter on the block. ABB’s 120kW string inverter featuring multi-MPPT solutions for maximum plant design flexibility. The inverter will be available in the first half of 2018, with a power and voltage range extension to 1500 Vdc. The inverter has been designed for large scale commercial and industrial PV installations, as well as for ground mounted projects. Featuring high-energy harvesting and advanced cooling credentials. It requires minimal onsite interventions, reducing operating costs as it has access to the Internet of Things via IP-based communication, scalable cloud architecture and easy wireless commissioning via tablet/mobile device. The inverter has been widely tested and demonstrated outstanding performance reliability.

Utility-scale central inverter, extended power range up to 2300 kVA
For utility-scale power generation and on display is the 1500Vdc PVS980 central inverter. Now available with an extended power range up to 2300kVA, the PVS980 central inverter is optimized for cost-effective, multi-megawatt PV power plants. Featuring an innovative, low-maintenance cooling solution designed for demanding applications and harsh environments. The PVS980 reduces maintenance costs while ensuring outstanding endurance and reliability. It also features a compact and modular design suitable for outdoor use and comes with a complete range of industrial data communication options, including remote control monitoring. The inverter is complemented with a compact Plug and Play solution, PVS980-CS-US Compact Skid for US markets, which is rated up to 4400 kVA.

Energy storage solution for solar expanded offering
As a turnkey supplier of battery energy storage systems and standalone power conversion systems, ABB has expanded its EssPro(TM) Energy Storage portfolio to include more compact and modular battery energy storage systems, as well as a new power conversion system platform. Pairing ABB’s Esspro Grid Battery Energy Storage system with solar can optimize the performance of the solar plant by providing instant power and ramping support during cloud coverage and load shifting services as the evening approaches.
Each of these products are backed with a comprehensive package of communication, monitoring, control and service solutions, designed to maximize solar power profits and support across the product’s entire life cycle.
