In Short : Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals has installed a 600 kW rooftop solar power plant at its Haridwar warehouse, covering 56,000 sq. ft. The system will generate over 750,000 units annually, meeting 70–80% of the facility’s energy needs and saving over ₹50 lakh per year. This move underscores Akums’ commitment to sustainability and significantly reduces its carbon footprint.
In Detail : Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals has taken a major step toward sustainability by installing a 600 kW rooftop solar power plant at its warehouse facility in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Spanning across 56,000 square feet, this on-grid solar system is designed to generate over 750,000 units of electricity annually, catering to nearly 70–80% of the warehouse’s daily power requirements.
The solar project is expected to significantly reduce the company’s reliance on conventional power sources, leading to estimated annual savings of more than ₹50 lakh in energy costs. Additionally, by adopting solar energy, Akums will be able to offset a substantial portion of its carbon emissions.
The initiative also contributes to environmental conservation. According to the company, the switch to solar power is equivalent to saving over 10,000 trees every year. This reinforces Akums’ goal of integrating green energy solutions into its business operations to promote a cleaner, greener planet.
Sandeep Jain, Managing Director and Founder of Akums, highlighted that the solar installation reflects the company’s broader commitment to sustainable growth. He emphasized that reducing energy costs while minimizing environmental impact is a strategic priority for the organization.
The project was completed on schedule with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations, adhering strictly to industrial safety and quality benchmarks. Since commissioning, the solar system has been functioning optimally, consistently delivering the expected energy output and reducing grid dependency.
To ensure peak efficiency, Akums has implemented a robust maintenance schedule, including regular cleaning of the panels and periodic inspection of system components. Energy generation is monitored through both remote and on-site tools, ensuring that the system continues to perform reliably over time.
