Amara Raja launches electric vehicle charging stations in Tirupati
To enable proliferation of e-mobility, Amara Raja is offering Lithium ion battery packs, charging stations and fleet operation solutions as an end-to-end package to its customers
New Delhi: Amara Raja, among the largest battery manufacturers in India, announced it has installed electric vehicle battery charging and swapping stations along with a fleet of electric autos in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
The initiative was taken in collaboration with Tirupati Municipal Corporation as a part of its smart city program.
The Hyderabad-based company has added a Lithium Ion battery pack manufacturing facility of 500 Megawatt Hour capacity at its Tirupati manufacturing unit. “To enable proliferation of e-mobility, Amara Raja is offering Lithium ion battery packs, charging stations and fleet operation solutions as an end-to-end package to its customers,” the company said in a statement.
Amara Raja Group Chairman R N Galla said the company is closely watching trends and emerging business opportunities in the arena of electric mobility and has taken steps to enhance its Research & Development capabilities.
Tirupati Municipal Commissioner Girisha P S, who was present on the occasion of the launch, said the move is a crucial step towards transforming the city into a green zone and more such electric vehicle charging stations will come up soon.
The Rs 8,700 crore Amara Raja Group has presence in production of lead acid batteries under the AMARON brand, power conversion products, sheet metal products, precision components, electronic products, infrastructure development and food processing. The company employs 15,000 people.
