Amazon, Kia Partner To Sell Home Electric Car Charging Stations To Kia EV Buyers
With the advent of electric vehicles (EVs) on the global scenario, a parallel industry of home charging docks is also growing and Amazon, being the e-commerce giant that it is, has been quick to identify it. In its latest move to capture this market, the firm has now partnered with Kia Motors.
With this partnership, those who buy any of Kia’s EV offerings can order at-home charging units and even get the required home installation through Amazon. Kia is the second auto maker to come on board with Amazon for this, the first one being Audi which entered a similar partnership with Amazon last year.
Kia EV owners can select their desired home charging station and further schedule an installation through Amazon Home Services with a licensed local electrician. The options available for this include a $764 dollar charger from Bosch, the car’s official partner, or Alexa-enabled Chargepoint ($699) or JuiceBox ($549). The latter offerings come wtih WiFi-capability and are currently ranked as best-sellers on Amazon.
