The Australian operating company of Canadian developer Amp Energy has secured land for one of three solar projects that will form its Renewable Energy Hub of South Australia (REHSA) with over 1.3 GW of solar and up to 540 MW of storage capacity.

Amp Power Australia Pty Limited and EPS Energy, from which Amp bought the portfolio of projects in May, have entered into an agreement for lease with the Barngarla Determination Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (BDAC) in relation to the 388-MW Yoorndoo Ilga solar farm scheme in Whyalla with 150 MW of batteries.

The developer estimates that the project in question will require more than AUD 500 million (USD 367m/EUR 310m) in total investment in the region and will create up to 400 equivalent full-time jobs during its construction phase, including the regional workforce.

Apart from Yoorndoo Ilga, Amp’s hub in South Australia will also include the 636-MW Robertstown and 336-MW Bungama solar parks.
