Andhra Pradesh to deploy 10 lakh electric vehicles and 1 lakh charging station by 2024
The state also plans to replace 11,000 buses state-run buses into electric, achieving 100 percent electrification in public fleet.
NEW DELHI: After Delhi and Kerala, Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday rolled out its electric vehicle policy. The Chandrababu Naidu-led government aims to have 10 lakh electric vehicles across all segments and 1 lakhs charging station in the next five years.
Adding woes to the carmakers, the policy will not allow any new registration of petrol and diesel powered cars. But, the government is yet to provide a timeline.
Moreover, the state plans to replace 11,000 buses state-run buses into electric, achieving 100 percent electrification in public fleet. Besides this, it also aims to convert all government corporation, boards, and ambulances to electric vehicles.
This policy aims to attract Rs 30,000 crore investments and create 60,000 jobs.
Under this policy, the state government will grant Rs 500 crore for research and development of electric vehicles.
