AP Energy department bags national awards
The commitment of AP government in promoting renewable energy sources has received wide range of appreciation from central government during the national review meeting of New Renewable Energy programme with State governments held at New Delhi on Tuesday. The Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Rajeev Kapoor, presented the awards for efficiency in various sectors. State Energy Conservation Mission CEO, A Chandrasekhar Reddy, in a statement here on Tuesday gave the details of the awards presentation in New Delhi.

Following are the departments which won the awards. NREDCAP – Got the best state nodal agency to facilitate maximum No. of solar agriculture pumpsets. APSPDCL secured the first place under the category of discoms. The APEPDCDL won the third under the category of discoms while Krishna district got the first prize for having maximum number of solar pumpsets. Vizianagaram district got the third prize for having maximum number of solar agriculture pumpsets. Ajay Jain, principal secretary, Energy I&I, thanked the Union government for the support extended to the State for promotion of renewable energy and said that AP is in forefront in supporting the Centre’s target of generating 1,75,000 mw renewable energy by establishing more than 10,000 mw solar power and 8,000 mw wind power in the State within 10 years.
