APEPDCL to provide solar pumpsets to farmers
The APEPDCL is in the forefront in all power supply utilities in the country with collective efforts of its stakeholders, including the consumers. The company has been rendering excellent service to its 54 lakh consumers in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and twin Godavari districts, said APEPDCL chairman and managing director MM Nayak.
He said that the company had registered the lowest transmission and distribution (T&D) losses among all discoms in the country. It achieved 5.48 per cent of T&D losses in 2015-16 and spent `110 crore to set up new 11,528 distribution transformers and provide 2.34 lakh service connections.
Nayak said that 235 solar pump sets with capacity of 3 hp and 5 hp were released among the 6,000 pump sets, to encourage farmers to use solar power .Till date, the discom has replaced 80 per cent of the existing power meters with IRDA meters, the CMD explained.
He gave away awards to 129 discom staff, including 25 corporate office staff.
