Appolonia City launches solar strategy with Axcon Energy solar farm
Axcon Energy Limited will supply solar power to residents of Appolonia City, as part of the new city’s renewable energy strategy for homeowners and businesses.
As part of its agreement with Appolonia City, Axcon Energy will design, build, commission, operate and maintain a 5MW solar farm.
Appolonia City CEO Bright Owusu-Amofah said, “Part of Appolonia City’s unique proposition in Ghana is to provide world-class utility service to its residents. Our agreement with Axcon Energy comfortably satisfy load growth and provide clean and reliable power to our industrial and residential clients.”
Appolonia City already receives supply from the national grid via a 33kv overhead line, serving a dedicated 60MVA primary substation. The new solar farm will augment this power supply, with further substations planned as the city grows.
