Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank plans to invest in clean energy in India
Beijing : headquartered Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on Friday said it is planning to invest in clean energy in India.
In an interview to CNBC-TV18’s Ritu Singh, Laurel Ostfield, director-general communications, said, “We are really excited to announce $500 million to help with transport. We are going to be quadrupling the lines from Virar to Dhanu. We are also looking to add a new suburban corridor from Panvel to Karjat.”
She said, “We are looking at a lot of investments here in India for renewable energy and energy efficiency. So, we are trying to give access to electricity that is required for India to achieve its potential, with a cleaner sustainable way. So, we are doing some on lending facilities specifically targeting renewable energy and energy facility.”
